Lens Football Club has secured the services of German Bundesliga side Borussia Dortmund for a fee of €40 million, according to reports.

The move comes as a major coup for Lens, who have been struggling in recent years and were relegated from Ligue 1 last season.

Dortmund's move is seen as a significant statement of intent by the club, which has struggled with financial difficulties in recent years.

The deal will see Lens receive €25 million upfront, with an additional €15 million in future installments dependent on the player's performances.

Lens chairman Jean-Claude Blanc said: "We are very pleased to welcome our new players to the club. We are confident that they will help us to achieve our goals and compete at the highest level."

Blanc added that he was also happy with the deal, which he believes will help the club to improve its playing style and performance on the pitch.

Borussia Dortmund manager Thomas Tuchel said: "I am delighted to be able to bring such quality players to my team. They will add depth and experience to our squad and I'm sure they will do well for us."

The move is expected to strengthen Lens' chances of promotion back to Ligue 1 next season, after finishing bottom of the league last season.
